i3 is junk, I tested it. It's not well thought out by the design/programmer. You shouldn't had to click 2 or 3 times to play some music in itunes. One click on the button labeled itunes should start playing tunes randomly. Plus this should happen behind in the background, not just bring itunes in front of i3. That is lame, I can do that with applescript. i3 people wants $25.00 for a program that has 7 button that launches 7 app of your choice, and does nothing else.

not that i like i3 (it is useless as stated before) but they at least have caught on to the idea of sharing the program in development stage so u can test it and try to make suggestions to help the project move along faster. iDash says alpha release in mid-March, and then ah begining of April. But I believe it is coming up on May. I understand that they are probably busy as hell with their real jobs as am I but I would gladly sit here and screw around with the program in an hour or two I have off trying to make it better.

So general point,

share so we can help.

totally agree. i was searching for a solution for my home (cube, touch screen, powermate (yet to come)), i3 seemed to be good enough on the first sight. however, you always can make your dock large enough, same effect...

I find it depressing how people are willing to dismiss and call an application absolute crap but are completely unwilling to try and take it in a direction they'd like. Why? Beacuse we ask $25 for an absolutely customisable application launcher that wants to be much more? You think that asking for $25 for our work and dedication is too much? Would you rather there be nothing else and that no one set a standard? At least we're trying. Are you??

I'll let you in on something else: we've got a "development" version of i3 running with full GPS support, with full movie support, with full iTunes playlist support but guess what? It'd cost us thousands of $ to even think of giving it away. You know why? Cause you pay for Quicktime plugins, you pay for navigation maps and you pay for a bunch of other stuff that we need to make i3 a true car front end. We're just 2 guys trying to make things work in our own cars. Yes, we use i3 every day.

We can shut off i3 any time we like (but keeping support and new versions for existing users) but we're not going to do that. We really want to see this thing grow. We'd love to see the car mac market grow. The Mac is a better machine all together along with it's operating system. I just wish all the users were as positive.

Try us... talk to us. What do you want? As I've said from day 1: we'll go where users ask us to go. We're not limiting i3 usage, we're not handicapping the application, we're not imposing rules or limitations and we're not creating impossible obstacles to i3 usage. At least give us a chance before calling us "junk" and "useless" and other derrogatory crap. Can't you at least try WITH us and not AGAINST us?

BTW: we have some happy customers that keep telling us where they'd like i3 to go. The next step (soon) is integrated iTunes. It won't be one click operation. It'll be 2 click after configuration. You don't need to buy i3 to talk to us and suggest stuff.
